About This Blog

I hate coming up with titles. As a pastor, one of my least favorite things to do is try to come up with a sermon title for the bulletin or upcoming sermon series. My lack of creativity led to the address for this blog being my name. So why “Family of Faith” for the blog title? An answer to that question will help you understand why I am writing.

  1. Our church calls itself a family of faith. However, in an increasingly scattered and hectic world, cultivating that family atmosphere is harder than ever. Some might gripe that the internet is replacing personal contact, but if we can use the internet to foster Christian community and Christian discipleship, I wouldn’t want to miss that chance.
  2. Since leaving seminary, I have missed the back and forth discussions that often happened between classes or in preparation for seminar papers. My hope is that some of this discussion can be fostered through this blog.
  3. My wife and I are foster parents through the Department of Human Services. As we learn to welcome people into our family, and as we learn to see them go, I hope to share how God uses these experiences to help us understand what it means to be a part of his family.
